M. Henry Heines

M. Henry Heines is a practicing patent attorney and an active author and speaker on patent-related subjects for both lawyers and business professionals. He has been practicing patent law since 1975, in both corporate practice and private practice, representing and advising individual inventors as well as small and large corporations.

Currently a partner at Townsend and Townsend and Crew LLP, Dr. Heines has over 30 years of experience prosecuting patents and rendering analyses in patent cases. The focus of his practice centers around his extensive background in chemical engineering and related fields.

Dr. Heines’ publications include numerous articles on patent law for attorneys, research personnel, and corporate management, and two books: Patents for Business, and Patent Empowerment for Small Corporations. He has chaired sessions on patent law at national meetings of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and is the Patent Editor of Chemical Engineering Progress, a monthly publication of the AIChE, where his periodic "Patent Update" column appears.
